Treasures of Salyersville Mural
Located in downtown Salyersville, on the Frazier Prater Drug building, is the Treasures of Salyersville Mural. The mural combines many different scenes of past and present treasures of Salyersville, in 4 unique displays. Among these treasures are: the old brick courthouse and jail, the old Salyersville National Bank, the Christian Church, the Phoenix Hotel, the Maypole Dance, the old Salyersville High Schools, the old Dixie Bridge, the Uncle Billy Adams gravesite, and the old Salyersville School. The mural can be viewed by simply traveling through downtown Salyersville, however, it is better viewed up close so every detail can be appreciated.
The artist responsible for creating the beautiful mural is Ms. Debra Burchett, of Johnson County, Kentucky. The Renaissance Committee selected Debra because her style and experience were well suited to the type of mural envisioned for downtown Salyersville.
Salyersville Water Feature
Located at the intersection of Gardner Trail and Parkway Drive, this beautiful water feature contains a rock waterfall springing forth into a large pool surrounded by blooming shrubs and plants. The feature was designed to symbolize the "birthplace of the Licking River". In the center of the feature is a "Welcome to Salyersville" sign. There is also a scenic walkway around the feature.
Renaissance Garden
Renaissance Garden, located behind the Renaissance building is a beautifully landscaped garden with stone and vegetation that is utilized by townspeople as a place to eat lunch or take a break from the workday. Tables and chairs were added Spring 2010 to make the garden area even more inviting. A plaque in memory of Luther G. Carpenter, former President of Salyersville National Bank, was placed in the garden in the summer of 2010. The Carpenter family graciously donated the garden property to Salyersville Renaissance for the benefit of the community.
